People who have heard Helga perform know that there’s so much more to her than just singing great catchy pop and inspirational songs, she moves you. Some combination of her vocals, her melodies, and the cry of her soul turn her performance into an experience that won’t leave you the same. She shoots right from her heart causing you to look deep inside your own. Born and raised in northern New Jersey, Helga has been singing and writing songs since she was 12 years old and she hasn’t stopped since. “I love to sing about life and God and how the two come together in everyday experiences. I want people to know that God is real and accessible and amazing!” Largely self-taught, she has sung for women’s events, coffee houses, churches, songwriter nights, and more. Helga is not afraid to sing about hard times and brings a fresh honesty to all her lyrics which are always laced with hope. In November of 2011, Helga released her highly anticipated debut CD, Look Back, featuring both old and new songs all of which she wrote or co-wrote.

Songwriting is a large part of who Helga is. She has written for other artists both in the US and Europe and was the Grand Prize winner of the Write About Jesus songwriting competition in 2006. "WAJ really set my songwriting career in motion and I am so thankful to Sue C. Smith for creating this amazing organization and for the incredible doors it has opened for me".Helga writes in the Southern Gospel market where she has several cuts including a song on the Dove nominated Collingsworth Family 2011 release "Part of the Family". The song, "I Found It All" was co-written with hit Nashville producer and writer, Wayne Haun. Hissong has also just recorded her song "What I'm Really Waiting For" which was co-written with Marty Funderburk.  The album is set to release in February of 2012.  Helga has established herself as a writer in other genres as well. She enjoys writing pop and alternative. Her pop tune "I Want to Live" was recorded by National High School Teen Idol champion, Catalina Gaglioti. Helga also had the opportunity to teach songwriting to the teens at the 2011 NHS Teen Idol event as well as sitting on the judges panel for the competition. Her rock alternative song "Fall" has placed in numerous competitions and is under consideration for use in various movie projects. It really doesn't matter what genre she is writing in, Helga always gets right to your heart and leaves you wanting more!
